1. Is it expensive to treat my kid's dental problem, or how about my teeth?

With teeth, it s also the same. They need attention. There is wear and tear; IF left neglected and rotten, and you want it fixed, then you may have to pay a premium. 2. Will it hurt?
Most patients refuse to go the Dentist because of an unforgettable traumatic experience. It boils down to good maintenance. Have you been a regular in the dental clinic, or only when the tooth hurts? Don't worry we will make your visit as comfortable as possible. As for kids, they will be given special medications to make them relaxed! As for adults, we can arrange for that as well, if needed!
3. My tooth hurts, what shall I do, it s Sunday!
For tooth under pain, the emergency type when you feel like the world is collapsing because your tooth is killing you, try first aid treatment. Meantime:
Take paracetamol. The usual dose that you take or give when fever is present.
For those who are taking or have been prescribed before, take Ibuprofen(which means you dont have allergy to it, then you or your child could take it). Some common brands are: Dolan for kids, Alaxan and Medical for adults. Just make sure to take the medicine with full stomach.TAke the dose your doctor has prescribed to you. Dont take this medicine if you have known history of allergies!
Then what?
Brush the teeth very thoroughly, making sure no food is lodged inside the cavity, Rinse well. You can buy over the counter, BEtadine oral rinse, as an extra help, to really cleanse the area. Avoid sweets; Sticky food; Acidic drinks, like cola and juices.
4. I HAVE A PARTY TONIGHT, ONE TOOTH CAME OFF FROM MY DENTURE, WHAT SHALL I DO?
Clean the surface of your denture where tooth has popped out. Dry. With a commercial adhesive, like Mighty Bond/BullDog(a desperate move), put a small drop into the space where you will put back the tooth, press the tooth back in place.Remove excess without touching with bare skin.Wipe with tissue careful not to spread it out lest it dries with ugly residue. Let it dry. Do no bite hard on it again , and arrange for your visit with your Dentist as soon as possible for repair or replacement with a new one.
5. I HAVE BAD BREATH. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
CLORETS, BUBBLE GUMs, MOUTHWASHES AND SPRAYS,MINT LEAVES, TEA> All these could mask foul-odor gases emanating from your mouth. First things first. Have the Dentist examine you.
The Dentist investigates the following:
i. Are teeth cavity- free, or a tamarind seed can fit inside that horrible cavity? When did you have your last dental filling?
ii. Are the gums healthy or bleeding. Oozing blood or clots from your swollem gums have fishy smell! When was your last dental prophylaxis?
iii. Are your dentures, bridges, crowns, all well-fitting and clean, or the last time you cleaned your teeth was when it was first installed, or your crowns and bridges have gaps between your teeth that food gets impacted inside it?
iiii. How's your tongue? Do you brush it as well? Or it' s thick with saliva and food debris you 've eaten a week ago?
iiii. Have you been told that you have gastritis, ulcer, diabetes, recurring sore throat, mouth breather, or any other medical condition?
v. Or simply, you want a shortcut, that you just use mouthwash without brushing. Or brushing is not your routine! This is like you dont regularly take a bath, and simply buy gallons of perfumes to spurt here and there to mask the odor!
Sometimes one simple act of brushing makes the difference, and no need to buy expensive medicines!
So, dont be embarassed. The Dentist is the professional guy to consult from, and ultimately treat you. Or he will refer you to a specialist if he or she thinks that you need further evaluation and management.
